We need your help!
Some of our members are traveling to New Orleans for a regional Books to Prisoners conference. If you can donate to help cover expenses for this trip, please do so!
All the details:
Louisville Books to Prisoners is just a little over a year old now. We started last January, and in that time we have gotten a space, gotten clearence to send books to almost all KY prisons, emmassed a library of over 5000 books, and continue to hold our weekly packing hours.
We are in the process of getting our 501(c)(3) and working hard to ensure the longevity of the organization. We were invited to the regional Books to Prisoners conference in New Orleans, LA and will be going there to gather ideas from other, more experienced, BtP organizations as well as to share how we operate.
We have done some book sales and other fundraising, but are setting all of that money aside to continue to pay for postage as well as to pay the fee for acquiring non-profit status. This GFM is specifically set up for the expenses related to the conference. Travel, housing, food, and purchasing any informational material that is available. If there is any money left over it will go directly to postage and packing materials.
Thank you all for your continued support!! Please donate if you can, and/or share this campaign so that we can go learn!
Our packing hours are every Monday and Wednesday from 5:30-8:00 at 1800 Portland Avenue if you want to stop by and see us or join in. Thanks always to McQuixote Books and Coffee for being our bookstore partners and to The Table for housing us!
